Introduction:

After operating the Integrated Core Characterization Center (IC3) for four years in Tulsa, it has been moved to the OU campus in Norman.  It is currently located in the Sarkeys Energy Center. The relocation dramatically improves student access, research and undergraduate opportunities. In addition to moving, we added a few new instruments courtesy of a generous Anadarko Petroleum donation. The laboratory was part of an original donation to the University of Oklahoma by AMOCO Production Company (1999).

The Center is being developed by Drs. Chandra Rai and Carl Sondergeld. Both have worked for Amoco for 18 years and developed Amoco's industry leading rock physics laboratory capabilities and the world's largest rock properties database. The laboratory, software, and computers have been donated to the University of Oklahoma and are being used to serve both academics and the industry. In addition, the University of Oklahoma has hired  Mr. Gary Stowe to allow the efficient handling of industry technical service work.

Our goal is to establish a world recognized center for rock physics and petrophysics at the Norman campus.
